Our Simple Morning Skincare Routine

We must admit- our morning skincare routine is very basic. Since our skin is very sensitive, we don’t like spending a ton of money on products because we’ll never know how our skin will react. Here are our morning products that we’re currently using that have helped our skin throughout every season of the last year.

Meleeza’s Morning Skincare Routine

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

I’ve been a fan of CeraVe since my big psoriasis flare-ups in the past. Due to my skin condition, my skin is sensitive and dry. Damage to my skin can easily turn into psoriasis scales, so moisturizing and healing are essential. For me, this cleanser does well hydrating, protecting, and healing my skin barrier while gently cleansing my skin.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

My skin responds well to the combination of benzoyl peroxide, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid in this product that gently treats my acne while soothing and hydrating it too. Since double cleansing can be drying, I make sure to only use it when breaking out. If I only have one or a few stubborn pimples- or if my nose blackheads are prominent- I make sure to only go over those areas with this cleanser.

Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil

I dab diluted tea tree oil on those huge, stubborn types of pimples with my finger or a cotton swab as a natural spot treatment. If my skin is too dry to handle tea tree oil, I’d dab it on after moisturizing. I even add some to my face moisturizer at times too. I usually buy Desert Essence’s 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil. I want to caution on how important it is to dilute tea tree oil with a carrier oil (jojoba oil, argan oil, rosehip oil, etc.). Tea tree oil should not be applied directly onto the skin because it can be extremely irritating and drying.

Heritage Store Rosewater Facial Mist

This is my favorite part of the routine. Spritzing this on my face after cleansing works as a very gentle toner. I also spray it on after moisturizing for further soothing as well as after makeup as a setting spray. It smells and feels so refreshing to me!

CeraVe’s AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

I have to make sure to keep the skin protected from the sun! So CeraVe’s AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is my go-to for days I know I’ll be outside for a while. If I know I’ll be indoors mostly, I’ll use their PM facial moisturizer instead.

However, since CeraVe products are a little pricey for me, I often use a mixture of jojoba oil and aloe vera gel as an alternative facial moisturizer to help stretch my CeraVe product for longer.

Burt’s Bees Coconut & Pear Moisturizing Lip Balm

Of course, I gotta keep my easily chapped lips moisturized too. This is the everyday lip balm I love to use.

Ally’s Morning Skincare Routine

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

I started using Cerave’s foaming facial cleanser early last year and it never fails to make my skin feel good and hydrated. Struggling with adult acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, I have seen a huge difference in my skin texture and don’t break out easily anymore.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

After washing my face, I put a few drops on my hands and pat it on damp skin so my face can lock up the moisture. It helps reduce the appearance of my blemishes, brightens my skin tone, and controls my oily skin during the summer.

COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

This is the newest addition to my skincare routine. A lot of beauty gurus have sworn by this product saying it’s helped their acne scars disappear and calm their redness down, which I have. I’ve only been using it for a month but noticed my scars getting smaller. With just a drop, it hydrates and plumps my skin.

The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream

My eyes get puffy in the morning, so this caffeine eye cream helps reduce puffiness and dark circles. Its lightweight cream helps me wake up in the morning and keep my under eyes smooth.

Clinique Moisture Surge

I’ve been using Clinique’s moisture surge for years because I love that it’s oil-free and how cool and hydrated it makes my skin feel. Clinique updated this product, which I haven’t tried yet, but it has better ingredients and lasts much longer. It’s gel-cream keeps my face and neck moisturized and feeling baby smooth.

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen

I switched to Supergoop’s sunscreen in March and love everything about it. It’s weightless, invisible, and has a velvety finish. This sunscreen also serves as a primer and works well with makeup. Once I’m done putting sunscreen on my face, I use the rest on my neck and hands. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

Aquaphor Lip Repair

My lips get dry and chapped easily, which is why I use Aquaphor lip repair to top off my morning skincare routine. I never leave home without it.

Everyone’s skin reacts differently to certain products, so research products or do a patch test before buying new skincare. Don’t forget to show your skin some love today and every day!
