It’s that time of the year where the breeze is cooler, temperatures are dropping, and our skin gets drier. Our tans have faded, and we begin looking ghostly and duller. We wanted to share our winter skincare routine with you all to help combat the winter skin blues.
Meleeza’s Skincare Routine
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
This jelly-like cleanser is my staple facial cleanser for my normal to dry skin. It’s gentle, yet hydrating. It doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils, which is very important since my skin is super dry in the winter.
Because I can never find a moisturizer that keeps my skin moisturized the whole day without making my skin look too oily or too dry, I’ve found that making a 1:1:1:1 mixture (1-2 drops each in my hand) of the following four products as moisturizer works well for me:
Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gelly
I love the moisturizing and healing benefits of aloe vera. Aloe vera is also anti-inflammatory, so it helps keep my breakouts in check.
Cerave Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum
I wanted to add hyaluronic acid to my skin routine this winter because I heard of the plumping and hydrating effects of it. I chose to stick with Cerave’s serum because it is a brand I trust. I can really see a difference in my skin texture from using this.
Aura Cacia Organic Rosehip Skin Care Oil
I’ve always been a fan of rosehip oil because I noticed it helps even out my skin tone. I like that this oil easily gets absorbed by the skin too, so it doesn’t make my face appear oily.
Desert Essence Organic Jojoba Oil
Similar to rosehip oil, jojoba also absorbs super fast, so it does not make my skin appear oily either. Just like most natural ingredients, it is also antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. I include jojoba oil mainly for more added moisture.
Heritage Store Rosewater Facial Mist
As I’ve mentioned in our previous morning skincare routine blog, I love to spritz rosewater onto my face after cleansing and moisturizing. It’s super soothing and refreshing. I also spray it on throughout the day when I remember to.
Milk Makeup Melatonin Overnight Lip Mask
I know this product is called an “overnight” lip mask, but I honestly use this both at night and in the morning. It has a vaseline-like texture, which I’m okay with. I just love the subtle plump it gives to start the day off.
Lately, I have been into probiotics in skincare so, I had to give this product a try. Since it didn’t disappoint the first run, I’ve been incorporating this in my morning skincare at least once a week. It leaves my skin so soft and glowy. When I notice my skin looking dull, I know it’s time to use this mask.
Ally’s Skincare Routine
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
My skin gets very dry during the cold seasons, and CeraVe’s hydrating facial cleanser keeps my skin feeling smooth, clean, and hydrated. I’ve heard not to wash your face every morning, to not try it out more- so depending on what kind of day I’m having, I’ll skip a face wash.
Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner
This toner is one of the newest products for my skincare routine, so I’m not able to give a review about it. I wanted to try this product because it helps reduce dull, uneven skin tone, and; targets dark spots, and brightens skin. I like how the liquid is light, and instead of using a cotton pad, I place three to four drops in my hands and pat them around my face.
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
This product is ideal for nighttime, but I also use it in the morning to give my skin more moisture and help my dull, uneven skin tone. Before, my morning oils would leave my skin very oily, but this one thankfully doesn’t.
COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
With how dry my skin gets during the wintertime, I make sure to use this snail mucin every morning to help repair and nourish my skin. One pump is able to cover my face and neck to help dullness and hydrate and brighten my skin.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
You will always find The Ordinary in my skincare routine, especially their niacinamide. It’s affordable and does the job of plumping my skin, keeping it hydrated, and reducing skin blemishes.
Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel
Another new item in my skincare routine is the Good Molecules eye gel. I usually use eye creams but switched it up after seeing reviews about this product. Since it is a gel and a bit heavier, I only apply a little on my finger and pat around my eyes. It does the trick of helping me wake up in the morning and look less tired.
Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator
The Clinique Moisture Surge never fails to make my face feel refreshed, hydrated, and healthy all day and night. I like that it has a gel-cream texture, and is lightweight, oil-free, and gives a smooth finish for my makeup.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
Of all the different types of sunscreen I’ve tried, none have compared to this one. It has a weightless, smooth finish that melts into my skin. It’s also a makeup primer and keeps my foundation and concealer have a nice look. With or without makeup, it does wonders for my skin. I definitely recommend this sunscreen if you’re looking for a new one.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia
Especially in the winter, lip balm is essential. I’ve been using Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia for years. It keeps my lips moisturized, soft, and the shade gives my lips a natural color without wearing lipgloss or lipstick. It stays on for a decent amount of time, but I make sure I never leave home without it.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm Vanilla
Depending on the occasion, I’ll use (original) Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm in Vanilla. The shea butter is extra hydrating and heals my chapped, dry lips. It is a bit thick, so I make sure to only put a little on my finger. What I love most about this product- is how soft it is and how shiny it makes my lips look. (The link attached is the newest formula and packaging, which I have not tried yet.)
